Description

The JS Sub Xero swallow tail is a fast, forgiving small-wave shortboard built for 0-4ft surf, when you want speed and glide without giving up performance turns.

JS Industries created the Sub Xero by combining its high-performance Xero with the Psycho Nitro, its long-running summer favourite. The result is a short, fuller-outline board with a low to flat rocker and a swallow tail. It generates speed in weak, mushy waves and still turns on a dime.

Why surfers choose the JS Sub Xero

  • Speed in slow waves: The low to flat rocker helps you drive down the line and glide through flat sections.
  • Easy, loose turns: A pulled-in nose reduces swing weight and the swallow tail creates optimum lift so the Sub Xero changes direction with little effort on small waves!
  • Float without the bulk: Low rails carry volume through the board while keeping it manoeuvrable.
  • Smooth rail-to-rail transitions: The nose has a slight rolled vee, and the bottom runs from a single concave under the front foot into a double concave in front of the fins, with vee out of the tail.
  • Flexible fin setup: It comes as a 5-fin board and works as a thruster, quad or Twin + Stabiliser, depending on the day.

Best conditions and who it suits

The Sub Xero is designed for small to average waves, roughly 0-4ft. It suits surfers of most ability levels who want a board that works when the surf is weak, and it’s a good option as a small-wave step-up from a standard shortboard.

How to size your JS Sub Xero

JS recommends riding the Sub Xero about 4-6 inches shorter than your regular Xero/HP Shortboard. If you’re between sizes, contact the Boards in the Bay team / call us on (02) 668 58861 and we’ll help you pick the right size for your weight, ability and local waves.
