The Mod Log from Cape Collective, is a retro inspired ripple rider, that blends a traditional feeling glide, with the best bits of a more modern Mal. Not to mention, these Longboards are 100% Australian Made, using the best materials, at an even better price!
With its low entry rocker, the Mod Log paddles and trims like an absolute dream. While the generous amount of tail kick in the last few feet of the board allow for quick direction changes, pivoting with ease when surfed over the Fin.
A wide tail block helps the Mod Log onto the tiniest of waves, while providing more surface area for the white water to hold the tail down for longer nose rides. The ample 23" of width also provides a stable nose riding platform, and trims over even the flattest of sections.
Concave under through the nose, increases lift and stability while nose riding, and well as increasing overall speed and trim. A rolled Vee through the back half of the board improves rail to rail transition, as well as increasing rail rocker for a tighter turning radius.
Fairly full, playful 50/50 rails run the length of the Mod Log. This makes for smooth catch free surfing, along with hold in the tail for even more tip time!
Construction Starting with the best 'Burford' Surfboard Specific PU Foam, the Mod Log is CNC milled for optimum accuracy. Then hand finish shaped by local board builders with over 35+ years of experience. Once the shape is complete, these Logs are hand laminated with 'Silmar' Surfboard Resin. There are 2 layers of 6 oz Fibreglass on the Deck, and a layer of 6 oz Fibreglass, and a fin patch on the bottom. Making all the Cape Collective Longboards very strong, and ultra compression resistant.
